Overview

This Safari offers a great opportunity to spend time in this scenic area, which is predominantly occupied by the River Bushmen. Khwai is part of the Moremi Game Reserve, an 1,800-kilometer or 35,000-hectare concession that is home to large breeding herds of elephants, buffalo, antelopes, and predatory species such as leopards, lions, and packs of African wild dogs, among others. Today, the concession is actively taken care of by the Khwai Development, which allows the local community to run ecotourism initiatives, conserving the environment and managing the wildlife. Look forward to spending the nights in wilderness-style tented camps.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Maun/ Transfer to Khwai - Botswana

Journey Time: Approx. 4 Hours

In the morning, you’ll meet with our guides for a briefing session before starting a 4-hour drive to Khwai. The trip from Maun to Khwai provides excellent game viewing opportunities. Upon arrival, you will go to your private campsite; this is followed by a refreshing shower and a dinner invitation from our chefs before your overnight stay.

Day 2: Khwai Guided Safari / Guide Mokoro Cruise /Night Game Drive

Guests are woken up by our guides for a light breakfast, followed by a morning game drive.

Planned Activities:
Khwai Guided Game Drive: Discover the wildlife, birds, and scenery of Botswana’s wilderness, Khwai, for up to 5 hours in the jungle. Your game drive will conclude with a quick stop for coffee and biscuits before returning to the camp for lunch and some rest.

Guided Mokoro Cruise and Khwai Night Game Drive: The afternoon offers guests the chance to enjoy a 2-hour Mokoro cruise along the winding channels and lagoons of Khwai River. Afterwards, guests return to the camp for an early dinner. After dinner, they will go on a night game drive into the Khwai concession area.

Day 3: Transfer and be dropped off in Maun

Journey Time: Approx. 4 Hours

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Maun/ Journey to Moremi Game Reserve

We strongly recommend early arrival: Upon arrival at Maun International Airport, our guides will meet you and start your day 1 in the early morning hours. After a briefing, begin a 5–6-hour road transfer to Moremi Game Reserve. The trip will include game viewing in Moremi. Arrive at the camp in the late afternoon and be welcomed by our team, followed by a refreshing shower and dinner before overnighting.

Day 2: Moremi Game Drive/ Okavango Boat Cruise/ Okavango Sundowner

This day begins with a light breakfast, followed by a morning game drive in the Moremi area. The drive concludes with a quick stop for coffee and biscuits before slowly heading back to the camp for lunch and some rest. In the afternoon, guests have the chance to enjoy a boat cruise along the winding channels and lagoons of the Okavango Delta. Afterward, our guides will select a scenic spot to enjoy a sundowner with glasses of wine before returning to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Khwai Community Concession

Journey Time: Approx. 2 Hours

Breakfast will be served at the lodge followed by check-out. Then, you’ll depart by road to Khwai Community Concession. In the afternoon, upon arriving at the planned accommodation, you’ll be greeted with a welcome drink and then check in. After refreshing, the dining area will be the meeting spot for the last meal of the day.

Day 4: Khwai Guided Safari/ Dogout Canoe Ride/ Khwai Night Game Drive

An early wake-up call from our guides for a light breakfast, then head out for a morning game drive in the Khwai Concession. After returning to camp for lunch, you can enjoy hot showers and a well-deserved siesta. You will then be transferred to the mokoro station, which is a 30-minute drive from the guest house. Experienced polers will then pole you on a traditional dugout canoe along the Khwai River for 2 hours. Afterwards, a call for an early dinner follows, allowing you to go on a night game drive in the Khwai Concession. Finally, return to camp for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Depart Khwai/ Drop – off at Maun

You will be treated to a full English breakfast on your last day before bidding farewell to our team. Day 1: Arrial with a transfer to the Hotel and zambezi Sunset Cruise

Meet our guide at Vic Falls International Airport where you will receive luggage assistance. You will then have a transfer to your hotel in Victoria Falls. Check-in and refresh to embark on the Zambezi sunset cruise where you will be served drinks and finger food, as you explore the beauty of River Zambezi. Dinner at own cost – we recommend The Three Monkeys Restaurant.

Day 2: Travel to Botswana and Explore Chobe National Park

After breakfast, depart to Botswana for your day trip to Chobe National Park. Enjoy game viewing in this wonderful safari park. On your safari in Chobe National Park; catch sight of huge herds of elephants (Chobe’s highlight), as well as buffalo, lion, crocodile, lechwe, puku, giraffe, zebra, sable, kudu and the occasional leopard as they gather to quench their thirst at watering holes. The Park is home to a huge 450 bird species to be sighted. Expect birds such as African skimmers, rock pratincoles, the African fin foot, cattle egrets, fish eagles, open-billed storks, lesser-striped swallows, and pied kingfishers either by binoculars or effortlessly with your naked eye.

Return to your Vic Falls hotel with dinner at your own cost – we recommend The Boma Dinner.

Day 3: Tour Victoria Falls, transfer and fly to Johannesburg – south Africa

This day requires an early start where you will have breakfast at the hotel first then start off with a Guided tour of Victoria Falls. This is a 2 – 3-hour adventure highlighted with splendid views of Victoria Falls – something unforgettable! Learn about how the Falls were formed alongside the customs and traditions surrounding them. Explore Victoria Falls’ four unique individual falls on the Zimbabwe side of the border; such as Devil’s Cataract, Main Falls, Rainbow Falls, and Horseshoe Falls. This is your moment to take the best pictures as you experience this natural wonder of the world. Visit a local art and crafts center for souvenir shopping.

Thereafter, you will be dropped off at Victoria Falls International Airport for your flight to Johannesburg (paid by clients). Meet our guide at O.R Tambo International Airport where you will receive luggage assistance and then get a transfer to your hotel. The evening is spent at leisure. Dinner at own cost.

Day 5: Guided Safari in Kruger National Park

Have breakfast at the hotel before the day’s adventure begins. Today is purely devoted to full day game viewing in Kruger National Park. The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks as the best in Africa.

Explore Kruger National Park (full day): Established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld, this national park is unrivalled in the diversity of its life forms and a world leader in advanced environmental management techniques and policies. Kruger is home to an impressive number of species; 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals. Man’s interaction with the Lowveld environment over many centuries – from bushman rock paintings to majestic archaeological sites like Masorini and Thulamela – is very evident in the Kruger National Park. These treasures represent the cultures, persons and events that played a role in the history of the Kruger National Park and are conserved along with the park’s natural assets. Day 1: Arrival with a transfer to the stunning Okavango Delta

Upon arrival at Maun Int. Airport, you will be received by our safari guide who will share a briefing about the tour and then transfer you to the iconic Okavango Delta. Arrive and explore adventures such as:

A bush lunch – picnic (subject to change): Africa is home to mouth-watering culinary delights, inspired by its diverse cultural heritage and boasts some of the earth’s most spectacular settings for you to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner amidst nature. Savour some of Botswana’s delicious cuisines and refreshment on your bush picnic as you feel the serenity of the Okavango Delta.

A Boat Cruise on the Okavango Delta: The next thing you’ll enjoy is getting aboard a sleek motorised boat, explore multiple channels that criss-cross the photogenic Okavango Delta. The cruise covers large distances with a showcase of magnificent views of the watery and marshy landscape. From the boat’s comfort, enjoy sightings of water birds, such as ponderous herons, colourful bee-eaters, solemn owls, jewelled kingfishers and the African Eagle. Tiny reed frogs cling to stilt-like grasses, creating colourful dots along the water’s surface. Several wild animals frequent the Delta for watering and cooling off such as: Lions, rhino, leopard, giraffe, hippos, elephants, crocodiles and various antelopes.

Okavango Bush Walk experience: Your adventure is crowned with a bush walk around the delta. This will take you close to the Bushmen also known as the San, one of the continents oldest inhabitants. Day 2: Domestic Flight to Kasane and transfer to Chobe National Park

Journey Time: Less 30 Minutes

Have breakfast at the lodge and check-out. Thereafter, you will transfer to Maun Airport and board a domestic flight to Kasane – Botswana. Upon arrival with assistance from our safari guide, transfer to Chobe National Park. Get to the lodge and check-in to have lunch.

After lunch, go for a 3-Hour Sunset Boat Cruise. Chobe National Park is best-known for its large herds of elephants that frequent the Chobe River on a daily basis. Furthermore, the park has lions, leopard, buffalo and hundreds of antelopes like sable, puku, kudu, eland, and roan especially at sunset. The river is also filled with big pods of hippos and some of the biggest crocodiles in Africa. This evening cruise is a great opportunity to sight varied wildlife with a wilderness sunset.

Returning to the lodge will be for refreshment, dinner and relaxation.

Day 3: Guided Wilderness Safari in Chobe National Park

Have an early breakfast at the lodge and set off for a safari adventure in the park.

On your safari in Chobe National Park (3 – 4 Hours), catch sight of huge herds of elephants (Chobe’s highlight), as well as buffalo, lion, crocodile, lechwe, puku, giraffe, zebra, sable, kudu and the occasional leopard as they gather to quench their thirst at watering holes. The Park is home to a huge 450 bird species. After the safari, enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to explore lodge amenities.

Day 4: Transfer to Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) with Zambezi Dinner Cruise

Have breakfast at the lodge on a leisurely morning and later transfer to Zimbabwe. Upon arrival, head to the lodge and check in to have lunch and refreshments (own cost).

Refresh and go for the Zambezi Dinner Cruise at 04:30 PM.

At dinner, you will be welcomed on board with a refresher towel and chilled flute of sparkling wine followed by a sunset cruise before the dinner feast. After that, starters are served followed by the main course (by professional chefs on board) as the sun sets down the Zambezi River. You will as well sample a selection of lively cocktails with a few premium spirits throughout the river voyage.

Return to the lodge at 08:30 PM and refresh to rest for the night.

Have breakfast at the lodge and go explore the Magical Victoria Falls. Go on a guided tour of Victoria Falls. This is a 2 – 3-hour adventure highlighted with splendid views of the Falls – something unforgettable! Learn about how the Falls were formed alongside the customs and traditions surrounding them. Explore Victoria Falls’ four unique individual falls on the Zimbabwe side of the border such as Devil’s Cataract, Main Falls, Rainbow Falls, and Horseshoe Falls. This is your moment to take the best pictures as you experience this natural wonder of the world. You will also have a visit to the local art and crafts center close to the falls.

Lunch at the Lookout Café – Victoria Fall (at clients’ own cost).

In the evening go for the Simunye Show. Head to Elephant’s Walk Shopping Mall – home of Ndlovu Theatre, a venue for the Victoria Falls Theatre Company production of Simunye’s “We Are One” which is a spellbinding fusion of puppetry, dance, music, and visuals that celebrate the universal human desire for connection and belonging.

Return to the lodge late evening and stay at leisure.

Day 6: Zambezi National Park Safari and Boma Dinner and Drum Show

Have early breakfast at the lodge and head out to explore the flora and fauna of Zambezi. Start off with a Guided Safari in Zambezi National Park. Stretching out from the banks of the spectacular Zambezi River, the Zambezi National Park is best-known for its natural beauty, abundant game and world-renowned river. The Park is home to a variety of wildlife including the famous Big Five as well as herds of sable antelope, eland, zebra, giraffe, and kudu with over 400 bird species. At Zambezi, explore activities such as: wildlife viewing and photography on game drives, bird watching, alongside guided bush walks with great camera shots for your memories.

Evening experience: The Boma Dinner and Drum Show – A place for Zimbabwe’s mouth-watering cuisines and cultural entertainment. Arrive and get dressed in a chitenge (sarong), with a mini face paint – a must for the show. Ladies are given dots on their cheeks to signify the beauty of African women, while men receive stripes defining the warrior look of African men. The cultural entertainment is composed of mbira music, traditional dancers, a local folk storyteller, a fortune teller, a hair braider, elaborate face painters as well as souvenir sellers on site. Return to the lodge later to relax and recuperate.

8 Days Whispers of the Kalahari

Overview

The Kalahari, derived from the Tswana word “kgala” meaning the great thirst of kgalagadi, meaning ‘a waterless place’. The Kalahari covers most of the southern African countries, including the northern part of South Africa, as well as most of Botswana, Namibia, and Angola. The north side of the Kalahari, where the Okavango Delta is located, has a richer and greater variety of wildlife than the south. In the south, we find the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, famous for its black-manned Kalahari Lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Reptiles and amphibians can also survive here, while it is very incredible to hear the frog chorus commence as soon as rain arrives. Don’t make too much noise whilst in the Kalahari, so that you do not miss out on any of these.

Day 1 - 2: Pick up from Maun/Explore Central Kalahari Game Reserve

Pick up from Maun International Airport with our 4×4 safari vehicles, then start our journey to the CKGR (Central Kalahari Game Reserve), where you will spend 2 nights, enjoying Morning and evening Game drives. Sightings can include the likes of three African Big Cats, such as the cheetah, leopard, and the most famous, the black-maned lion. Antelopes, a variety of birds, and birds of prey species, such as falcons, giant eagle owl, goshawks, to name a few.

Day 3: Transfer Back to Maun/ Overnight Stay

Day 4 - 5: Visit and Explore Moremi Game Reserve

Journey Time: Approx. 4 Hours

Your journey continues to Xakanaxa in the Moremi Game Reserve, one of Botswana’s premier wilderness areas, which encompasses both swampy and dry areas. Moremi Game Reserve is a rich and diverse wildlife sanctuary, situated in the Okavango Delta. The reserve is unfenced, and natural water systems define its boundaries. The vegetation is varied, with dry land complemented by permanent and seasonal swamplands, resulting in an excellent diversity of both wildlife and birdlife.

There is an excellent network of game drive routes throughout the reserve. You will spend two nights in this breathtaking area, which always impresses. You will go on game drives early in the morning at sunrise and again in the late afternoon. After morning game drives, you’ll return to camp for a siesta, then enjoy a sunset boat cruise in Xakanaxa. After dinner, you might sit with your guide around the fire to gaze at the night stars.

Day 6 - 7: Xakanaxa to Khwai Community Concession

Journey Time: Approx. 1 Hour

From Xakanaxa, we continue our exploration, but this time our journey takes us to Khwai in the northern part of Moremi Game Reserve. We spend the last two nights at African Excursions Guest House, exploring the Khwai floodplains on game drives and by mokoro during the day.

Day 8: Khwai Guided Walk/ Drop – off at Maun

Guests enjoy a full English breakfast on their last day before bidding farewell to our team. We will then lead a guided walk in the morning, giving you a chance to get up close and personal with nature.

Drop off at the Khwai airstrip follows: Arrival at the Maun International Airport marks the end of services, then proceed to check in for departure.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 - 2: Arrival/ Maun to Nxai Pan National Park

Journey Time: Approx. 3 Hours

You will be picked up from Maun and take a 3-hour drive to Nxai Pan National Park. Be ready to enjoy game drives in Botswana’s most famous salt pans, which are well known for the migration route of large animal herds moving between the Okavango Delta, Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, and the grasslands around Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. Another famous attraction is the Baines Baobabs: a group of seven large baobabs on the edge of Kudiakam Pan. The park’s name comes from a curved stick ‘Nxa,’ used by the San to dig out springhares, which the shape of the park resembles. The area also hosts San Bushmen settlements.

Day 3: Transfer back to Maun/ Overnight Stay

Journey Time: Approx. 3 Hours

As you depart from Nxai Pans and start the journey to your next destination, the guide will conduct one last drive as you leave Nxai National Park and head to Maun, the gateway to Botswana’s greatest treasure, the Okavango Delta. The guide will drop you off at your lodge where you will overnight before heading to Moremi Game Reserve the next morning.

Day 4 - 6: Moremi Game Reserve / Safari and Boat Cruising

Journey Time: Approx. 2 Hours

The Moremi Game Reserve showcases the heart of Africa’s top game viewing region, offering 3 nights to explore this stunning area. While in Moremi, you’ll enjoy a Boat Cruise and Game Drive Safaris, allowing you to experience luxury in the wilderness.

Day 7 - 8: Explore Khwai Community Concession

Journey Time: Approx. 1 Hour

The Khwai Concession spans 1,800 sq.km and is located in the northeastern Okavango, adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve. Here, you’ll definitely go on game drives and glide through water channels in a traditional mokoro. The highlight is that this area is one of the most scenic and wildlife-rich regions of the Okavango Delta.

Day 9 - 10: Journey to Savuti – Chobe National Park

Journey Time: Approx. 2 Hours

Embark on a lengthy road transfer from Khwai to Savuti, accompanied by game viewing along the way, before arriving at camp where you’ll stay for 2 nights. This area is renowned for its predators, especially its resident lions and spotted hyenas. The two nights in this prominent part of Chobe National Park will feature morning and afternoon game drives every day.

Day 11 - 12: Experience Ihaha – Chobe/ Botswana

Journey Time: Approx. 4 Hours

Wake up early in the morning and get ready to head to your final destination, Ihaha, located west of Kasane on the Chobe Riverfront. Here, you’ll stay for 2 nights camping while enjoying the breathtaking scenery of the continuously flowing Chobe River. On the second day of your stay, you’ll have the chance to experience the beauty of the Chobe River up close on a sunset boat cruise and go on game drives along the river and in Chobe National Park.

Day 13: Check out / Drop off at Kasane Airport

Journey Time: Approx. 1 Hour

As you have your last breakfast with us and prepare to exit the camp, the lovely staff will bid you farewell, and the guide will drop you off at the airport and part ways with you as you head to your next destination.

Destination: Maun – Okavango Delta – Chobe National Park – Victoria Falls

Our guests were welcomed with a Boat Cruise on River Thamalakane, and proceeded to explore the Okavango Delta (World Heritage Site); the world’s largest inland delta. They took a Mokoro ride to the magnificent Okavango River which sprawls out over the dry sands of the Kalahari Desert forming this flourishing waterlogged oasis featuring countless meandering waterways and crystal-clear lagoons. The adventure extended to Botswana’s Khwai and Chobe National Park for a true African wilderness experience! After another boat cruise along the iconic Chobe River, they visited Zimbabwe’s iconic Victoria Falls and participated in some adrenaline activities.

Day 1: Arrival in Botswana, Transfer/ Thamalakane Boat Cruise

Journey Time: Approx. 30 Minutes

Upon arrival at Maun Int. Airport; be warmly received by our safari guide, have a briefing and transfer to the lodge near Thamalakane River. Arrive and check-in to refresh and rest – dinner is arranged at the lodge.

Day 2: Mokoro Excursion to Okavango Delta – Day Trip

Have breakfast at the lodge and get set for the day’s long adventure.

Transfer to the Mokoro Station from where you will embark onto a Mokoro and setoff to the Magical Okavango Delta (you will have a picnic in the wilderness).

The Okavango Delta (World Heritage Site) is the world’s largest inland Delta, stretching over an impressive 15000 square kilometres. It sprawls out over the dry sands of Kalahari Desert forming this flourishing waterlogged oasis featuring countless meandering waterways and crystal-clear lagoons studded with water lilies, as well as fertile floodplains and reeded islands inhabited with abundant wildlife. At Okavango you find a range of exciting activities; game viewing, fishing, bird watching or taking an authentic guided Mokoro excursion through this wetland paradise in a traditional dugout canoe. Expect to see: lions, rhino, leopard, giraffe, hippos, elephants, crocodiles and various birds.

The adventures to explore include:

Enjoy a Mokoro Ride (Traditional dugout canoe): Spend more time in a Mokoro, gliding through the floodplains and channels; taking you to any of the many islands, taking in the magnificent scenery and light as well as the abundant game and bird-life. At fall of dusk sail on a Mokoro back to Crocodile Camp. Arrive and refresh for dinner at leisure: Dinner is spiced with a cultural experience; showcasing cultural dances with a taste of Botswana’s local cuisines and beverage.

Day 3: Visit and Explore Btswana’s wilderness Khwai

Have breakfast at the lodge and check-out. Thereafter transfer to Khwai between Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe National Park.

Khwai Wilderness Safari Experience – Situated on the outskirts of the beautifully preserved Moremi Game Reserve, is a wildlife-prolific and varied ecosystem which provides a patchwork of lagoons, shallow flooded pans, open grass plains and woodland forests. The Khwai ecosystem is without doubt one of the most scenic places in Botswana! Khwai is a predator-rich area; with the best African Safari experience. There are high concentrations of predators and a huge population of wild dogs. Wildlife here is much the same as the Moremi Game Reserve. Furthermore, the magnificent Khwai River is a hub for some of the most outstanding wildlife viewing both on the Moremi and in the Khwai ecosystem. Animal species to be sighted include elephant, buffalo, zebra, lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, giraffe, eland, sable, hippo, hyena and various other nocturnal species.

Enjoy a Sundowner in the wilderness; the best moment to wonder at true African sunset as you sip-in a few African brands and savoury snacks.

Spend leisurely evenings at the lodge amid splendid sunset views.

Day 04: Domestic Flight to Kasane and transfer to the Lodge/Boat Cruise

Pickup Time: 06:30AM. Early breakfast and check-out, to be dropped off at the airstrip for your domestic flight to Kasane near Chobe National Park. Arrive briefly at the lodge to drop-in your bags, and go for a Boat Cruise.

Planned Afternoon Activity: Chobe River Boat Cruise – Chobe National Park is best-known for its large herds of elephant that frequent the Chobe River on a daily basis. In the dry season an estimate of up to 85,000 elephants can be dispersed within the Chobe National Park, and the majority sighted along the river. The Park has lions, leopard, buffalo and hundreds of antelopes like sable, puku, kudu, eland, roan and many to see at sunset. The river is filled with big pods of hippos and some of the biggest crocodiles in Africa. The chance of seeing wildlife on the islands and riverbanks is high, as is the likelihood of spoting numerous birds, and crocodiles.

Return to the lodge later to refresh and recuperate – dinner included.

Day 05: Guided Game Drive in Chobe National Park/ Boat Cruise

Pickup Time: 06:30AM. Your day starts with an early breakfast at the lodge and depart for a game drive at sunrise. (You will have lunch or dinner at the lodge – HB)

Chobe Guided Game Drive – On your safari in Chobe National Park,catch sight of huge herds of elephants as they swim across the water, as well as buffalo, lion, crocodile, lechwe, puku, giraffe, zebra, sable, kudu and the occasional leopard as they gather to quench their thirst at watering holes. Chobe National Park has a huge 450 bird species to be sighted. Expect to spot birds such as African skimmers, rock pratincoles, the African fin foot, cattle egrets, fish eagles, open-billed storks, lesser-striped swallows, and pied kingfishers either by binoculars or with your own naked eye.

Included – Another afternoon Boat Cruise on River Chobe; thus, offering a detailed exploration of the river with its scenery and varied wildlife.

Day 06: Ground Transfers to Victoria Falls - Zimbabwe

Journey time: Approx. 1 hour

Have breakfast at the lodge and check-out. Thereafter be transferred across the border to Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls. Arrive and visit the falls with a later lunch – client’s own cost.

Today’s Planned activities:

Guided tour of the Magical Victoria Falls –This 2 –3-hour adventure offers great views of the Victoria Falls! Explore how the Falls were formed and what local customs and traditions surround them. At Victoria Falls feel free to sample optional activities such as: micro lighting, white water rafting, bungee jumping, and kayaking. Your waterfall excursion is extremely informative and end with a visit to the local crafts centre.

Next is River Zambezi Dinner Cruise (Pure Africa Waterfront) – Your dinner cruise offers only the magical colours of the Zambezi River at dusk but a truly unique dining experience! Whilst on the boat, enjoy an on-board dinner served as you savour the splendour of the setting sun. Ideal for food and nature lovers wanting it all. Embark from the Pure Africa Waterfront and head off into the evening. After your favourite drink is poured, you’ll be ushered to your set table where a delectable series of dishes freshly prepared on the boat and paired to premium drinks including an authentic Pure Africa house wines are served. Silhouettes of elephants against the sunset and hippos noisily grunting in the distance will most certainly add to the ambience.

Return to the lodge late evening and refresh to rest for the night.
